About
I write. A lot.
I’ve been writing since I could put crayon to paper. I’ve been making up stories longer than that. My high school English teacher had to find extra work for me on the grammar unit because I aced the pre-test. In my varied and winding career, I’ve always been the one who ended up with the writing tasks.
I started doing freelance commercial writing in 2004, and that worked out pretty well. I love the work and the people I worked with. When the economy tanked in 2008, a lot of my projects came to an end, and a lot of my clients took their work in-house. I took that opportunity to dive into my first true love: Writing epic fantasy.
I decided to go independent because I believe that’s the way publishing is going. I don’t see this as an excuse to turn out a steaming pile of nasty and call it a book. I intend to write quality work and get better at it as I go.
I love Shakespeare and Jane Austen. Maybe that’s cliché, but that doesn’t make it less true. I also love Stephen Lawhead, Jennifer Roberson, George R. R. Martin, David Eddings, and the early works of Terry Goodkind. I’ll read a good biography or history or business book, too. David McCullough and Seth Godin rock.
When I’m not writing, I try to parent my four beautiful children. I also try to find time to hang out with my Content Editor, Chief Technology Officer, Onsite Tech Support, Chief Marketing Officer, stand up comic, and psychologist. That’s one person–my husband. We’ve known each other since 1983, and we aren’t sick of each other yet.
Join me while I stumble through the world of indie publishing… I have a little talent, and occasionally I surprise myself with a rare flash of brilliance. I hope to share both with you.

Hi there — found you via your comments at Linda Cassidy Lewis’ blog. I’m also a writer and mother of four. It’s a juggling act, right? Looking forward to reading more…
Hi Amanda!
It’s a crazy juggling act… Or maybe a plate-spinning act…
Glad to have you along, and I look forward to getting to know you!
Hi Amy,
Your covers are so fantastic I didn’t realize you were an indie author! I’d love to chat with you sometime. Jane Wells told me Ravenmarked was amazing so I’ll get it on Kindle.
Great website btw!
Hey, Sarah! Welcome to my blog–glad you visited! Thanks for the compliment on the covers–I am in NO WAY artistic, so all credit goes to Robin Ludwig. She is very talented! And I’m very happy to hear Jane is enjoying Ravenmarked as well–hope you enjoy it, too!
